Writing for NaNoWriMo
November’s Writing Challenge
Hello, and welcome to my new blog!
In fact, this is a brand new website, which my partner and I have been working on for the last week or two. It’s much more interactive – you can sign up to receive notifications of new posts, and comment on posts, as well as contacting me direct, which was your only option before, unless you went to my Facebook page.
As I’ve just started NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month – a marathon writing challenge), my posts this month may be frequent but short. NaNoWriMo is an international ‘competition’ where you try to write at least 50,000 words of a novel in the month of November. Anyone who achieves this is called a ‘winner’. With only 30 days in which to complete the mission, the daily total required is 1,667 words.
I thought I had a novel I was going to write this year. It’s now on the back burner, possibly for next year, as I had the sudden inspiration to expand on one of the stories in my past lives novel, Healing the Wounds. For anyone who’s read this novel, it’s the one that starts on a farm near Canterbury and involves a love affair with a nobleman and a sudden move to the coast.
OK, so I’ve written more than 1/30th of 50,000 words already today (word count at time of writing this blog is 1800), but I have no doubt there will be days when I don’t get to write anything. So, while it’s lovely to be here chatting to my readers, I’m going to have to excuse myself for now.
My new novel, provisionally entitled ‘Witch’, is calling me.
So, goodbye for now. I’ll be back with an update on my progress in a day or some.
Thanks for reading, and do feel free to show your support for my mammoth task!
Good luck with the project 🙂
Thank you, Rick x
